Keep project material in one place

Links, files and the media already on the page, gathered where the work is — so a client never has to go looking.

5 min read

A project page shows the work as written in your source. Material sits alongside it: the finished export, the video walkthrough, the signed document, the shared folder. They open from a single files view in the project header, together with the images already on the page.

What you can attach

There are two ways to attach something, and they behave differently.

A link Any public web address — a Vimeo or Loom recording, a Figma file, a shared Drive folder, a live document. Nothing is copied or stored, so links have no size limit on any paid plan.
An uploaded file The file is stored by Link and served from the project. Uploads count against your plan's per-file limit and your workspace storage.

For large video, prefer a link. A hosted video player streams better than a downloaded file, and it costs you nothing against your storage.

Add a link

  1. Open the project and select Material next to the last-updated date.
  2. Paste the address into Paste a link.
  3. Optionally give it a name. Without one, Link shows the address itself.
  4. Select Add link.

Only addresses reachable from the public web are accepted. A local address such as localhost or an address on a private network is rejected, because a client would not be able to open it.

Upload a file

  1. Open the material view and select Upload file, or drop files onto the panel.
  2. Watch the progress indicator. Large uploads cannot resume, so avoid switching networks part-way.
  3. The file appears in the Attached list as soon as it finishes.

Web page files (HTML, SVG, XML) cannot be uploaded. They would run as code in a browser rather than open as a document.

Size limits by plan

Free workspaces do not include project material. Paid plans differ in how large a single file can be and how much you can store in total.

Free Not included No workspace storage
Plus 20 MB per file 2 GB total workspace storage
Business 200 MB per file 25 GB total workspace storage
Enterprise 2 GB per file Custom workspace storage

Links never count against either limit.

Moving to Free keeps your files but hides them.

Uploads are not deleted when a workspace downgrades — they stop appearing on project pages until the workspace is on a plan that includes attachments again.

Where files appear

  • A Material control sits in the project header, beside the last-updated date, with a count.
  • Opening it shows Attached — what you added in Link — and In this page — the images and media already in the project content.
  • Images open in the usual full-screen viewer, so attached images and page images browse together.
  • The control appears on the project page itself, not on its sub-pages: attachments belong to the whole project.

What clients see

  • Everyone who can open the project — signed-in clients and visitors to a public page — can see and open its files.
  • Only workspace members can add, rename, or remove them. Client admins read only.
  • File names are text, so they pass through automatic redaction like everything else. A file named after a redacted client is renamed or hidden on the public page, depending on your redaction style.
  • A file can be kept off the public page entirely while staying visible to signed-in members.

Files stay in Link

Attachments are not written back to your source.

Adding a file in Link never changes your Notion page, and a sync never removes an attachment you added here. Files added inside Notion still appear under “In this page”, because that is page content.

Remove a file

Open the material view and select the remove control beside the file. Removing an upload deletes the stored file and frees the space immediately. Removing a link only removes the reference — whatever it pointed at is untouched.
